Here is an example of how to calculate the cost of distilled water using:
- Polar Bear Series Models 26
- Polar Bear Series Models 42
- Polar Bear Series Model 100-L
- Polar Bear Series Model 200-L
First identify your local cost of electrical power. In this example we will use our current rate of .0748 cents per Kilowatt-Hour.(kWh)
To operate the distiller for 24 hours, we take the power rating of the Series 26 which is 1100 watts(W), the Series 42 is 1500W, the 100-L is 3300W and the 200-L is 5300W. Convert to Kilowatts by 1000(ie.1100/1000=1.1kW and multiply by the number of hours(24).
26 Series
1100/1000 = 1.1 kW
1.1 x 24 = 26.4 kWh
26.4 x .0748/kWh = $1.97
$1.97/8 gallons = 25 cents per/gallon
26-M (distiller)
$800.00
MST-3 (holding tank) $230.00
TOTAL
$1030.00
26-CT (distiller)
$1335.00
PK-2 Pump Kit
$370.00
Pressure Tank
$ 85.00
CT Stand
$ 75.00
AD-1 Autodrain
$370.00
Package TOTAL
$2235.00
26D-8 (distiller)
$1610.00
PK-3 Pump Kit
$370.00
Pressure Tank
$ 85.00
AD-1 Autodrain
$370.00

$2435.00
42 Series
1500/1000 = 1.5 kW
1.5 x 24 = 36 kWh
36 x .0748/kWh = $2.69
$2.69/12 gallons = 22 cents per/gallon
42D-10 (distiller)
$1775.00
PK-3 Pump Kit
$370.00
Pressure Tank
$ 85.00
AD-1 Autodrain
$370.00
Package TOTAL
$2600.00
42D-25 (distiller)
$2025.00
PK-3 Pump Kit
$370.00
Pressure Tank
$85.00
AD-1 Autodrain
$370.00
Package TOTAL
$2850.00
Model 100-L
3000/1000 = 3.0 kW
3.0 x 24 = 72.0 kWh
72.0 x .0748/kWh = $5.39
$5.92/25 gallons = 22 cents per/gallon
Model 200-L
5300/1000 = 5.3 kW
5.3 x 24 = 127.2 kWh
127.2 x .0748/kWh = $9.51
$9.51/50 gallons = 19 cents per/gallon
Units start at $400 U.S. and go up from there.
