Compressed Carbon Block Filters

Carbon filters come in three forms: powdered, granular, or compressed. Powdered carbon filters are very messy and loose carbon dust can enter the lungs. Granular carbon filters are popular because they are quite inexpensive, but they remove only color taste and odor and filter down to around 10 to 15 microns. Compressed carbon filters down to .5 micron, which is small enough to remove parasites like cryptosproidium, giardia and e-coli, as well as bacteria.
